Financial Elder Abuse: The 21st Century’s Growing Dilemma

Labeled as one of the growing issues of the 21st Century, financial elder abuse is a major concern to all estate planning practitioners. It is one of the hardest issues not only to identify, but also to rectify. The subtleties of the issue raise interesting discussions. Clearly, the outright theft of cash or an item from an elderly victim by a caregiver is easy to recognize. But what about the “gifting” of assets? This program will cover this burgeoning issue with the testimony of the late Mickey Rooney before a Senate hearing on financial elder abuse and some of the dilemmas that have been faced in real life situations.
